Why Massage and Craniosacral Therapy?

In 1986 I was living in Ft. Lauderdale Florida working as a sales manager for a beauty supply company. At this time I knew nothing about the massage world and didn't know I was being led to a whole new world via my sister and her back problems. My sister had moved to my area in 1988 and was living with her daughter close by me. One day she woke and could not sit or stand for any length of time. This problem had started several years ago from a fall down steps. She had an operation and had a disc removed. There was no rehab done. As a result scar tissue formed in the area of the sciatic nerve. I suppose this was happening over a few years. We went to several conventional doctors and they were only able to give her pain pills. This did not help and she was getting worse.

After 6 months of unsuccessful visits we where told by a doctor friend of hers to visit a craniosacral therapist in Ft. Lauderdale. We agreed since nothing else had worked and we were both willing to try something different. We scheduled the appointment. On the first appointment I stayed in the room. The woman treating my sister seemed to sit motionless with her hands positioned under my sister's back and one on her stomach. She talked to my sister about how she felt about her job and her life in general. My sister told her she hated her job and was insecure about her life. My sister felt her job was beneath her skills. Then by the second visit her insecurity issues were resolved thru conversation while she worked on her body.

By the second visit my sister was completely well.

Needless to say I was very impressed and wanted to find out every thing about this work called CranioSacral Therapy. From there I went to massage school and took all the related courses in this awesome therapy. Because of my sister's illness I was led into a knowledge of the mind, body and spirit connection. All of the aspects of the body must be addressed for a total healing. This therapy gets to the core of the illness.
